MORE GOOD THINGS ON CABLE!

holiday insert continued:

OKLAHOMA
(for you, a poem)

Dead grass, red clay, dry skin, flat coca-cola.
We meet again, you look wrinkled.

Oldest Airport named after Wiley Post,
Youngest Airport named after Will Rogers:
both dead in a plane crash, side-by-side.

A thousand wild dogs roaming the streets at night,
the anarchist punks of Dresden have nothing on you.

Joan Crawford was babysat in 910 D Ave., she always looked bitchy.

There are whispers in the hills and small rooms.
I have no idea what we will do tomorrow.

Jason Robards played Chisolm, there are no more Reservations here.

Dry bush plum wine, abandon homes and haunted Inholser Mansion, closed for the day.
Remember 4, 5, 3- 5. Bernice!

that is all i have to say about the surrey with the fringe on top. it was delightful.

moving images i paused in front of:

-lifetime TV’s 'many many mini-series' LOVE, LIES, AND MURDER starring the dude from BAD BOYS, and Laura Palmer from TWIN PEAKS, it was completely absorbing for approximately 45 minutes. wait, also starring moira kelly, the lesbian from SEX AND THE CITY, and the dude from beverly hills cops 4. i am only assuming this was a made-for-tv based-on-real-life mini-series. a tale of murder conspiracy, but really, a disgusting look at a sociopathic turn of casting! i always thought laura palmer was the most beautiful woman in the world. she certainly captivated every (gay) boy i knew in high school and i wanted to base my adult identity off of her mystique. tragic how things turn, like a snake on its tail.

-OU vs OSU, 1996, OU vs OSU 2004, Texas vs Texas A&M 2008.
-extreme animals- LUCKY THE DOG
-CLEOPATRA- did not watch with the sound on, or in it’s entirety, but unholy god was that stunning. elizabeth taylor is derek's type! she is certainly something. what i kept spacing out on was the elaborate and intricately stylized sets, david lean-y or john huston-ish, or oh yeah, joseph l. mankiewicz-ie!

wiki: The film is infamous for nearly bankrupting 20th Century Fox. Originally budgeted at $2 million[1], it was made at a cost of $44 million — the equivalent of $295 million in 2007 dollars (see the list of most expensive films to produce), making the movie the third-most costly ever produced worldwide and the second most expensive in United States after Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End which has a budget of US$300,000,000 . This was partly due to the fact that the film's elaborate, complicated sets, costumes and props had to be constructed twice, once during a botched shoot in London and once more when the production relocated to Rome.

and:

The cut of the film which Mankiewicz screened for the studio was six hours long. This was cut to four hours for its initial premiere, but the studio demanded (over the objections of Mankiewicz) that the film be cut once more, this time to just barely over three hours to allow theaters to increase the number of showings per day. Due to the cuts certain details are left out of the film, such as Rufio's death.[3] Mankiewicz unsuccessfully attempted to convince the studio to split the film in two in order to preserve the original cut of the film. The film has been released to home video formats in its 243-minute premiere version, and efforts are under way to locate the missing footage (some of which has been recovered).

also- liz taylor and richard burton met on the set of CLEOPATRA, caused some serious scandal. they literally just went and did it.
